Students in grade eight study the different elements and the types of reactions they undergo in the Chemistry portion of our class. Students will work with different substances to experience firsthand the physical and chemical changes they undergo. In addition, students will be introduced to the periodic table and begin to use it for their scientific development. After students have learned the chemistry of living things, they will move into the Physics portion of Physical Science. Students will learn how different variables affect different factors such as speed, acceleration, velocity and energy. As a culminating activity, students will create their own race cars using their knowledge of forces and motion to build a car that will go the furthest and quickest. By conducting different experiments, students will develop their skills in scientific experimentation, investigation, and analysis.
My Thoughts:
My Physical Science class is taught by Miss.Kwon. Almost everyday, we take notes and we write summaries after every lesson of notes. I usually do them right after we take notes when Miss. Kwon tells us to write down our homework, I just write it really quick and then write down my homework. I think her class is pretty fun even with the notes she gives us. I love the labs that we do because she makes them so fun. Those vocabulary cards look nice but they are annoying because they take me a long time to color so I don't even bother coloring everything I don't need to anymore. I just color the pictures that are needed to be colored. I think Miss. Kwon gives a lot of opportunities for us to make up our work in first trimester but people messed it up, so now we only have afterschool on the same day to make up the work. Miss. Kwon is a teacher you can talk to when you are not in class. You can visit her at lunch, and she can be pretty fun and interesting to talk to. But too bad you shouldn't go because I will be in there talking to her if I can. =]. Well, bye bye!
